Creative Assistant & Senior Company Member
Lulu Prudence Mlangeni is a senior dancer, facilitator, teacher and Creative Assistant at Vuyani Dance Theatre based in Newtown Johannesburg.
Over the years she has worked with prominent local artist, script writers, and directors nationally and internationally. To name a few is Gregory Maqoma, Luyanda Sidiya, PJ Sabagha, Nelisiwe Xaba, James Ngcobo, Sibongile Khumalo and Hugh Masikela.
Amongst the places in which Mlangeni has performed both nationally and internationally were France, China, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Switzerland, Brazil, France, Mozambique, Botswana, Mexico, Russia, USA, Germany , Madagascar and Reunion Ireland.
She is an award winner for the most promising female dancer 2007 in contemporary style for Dance Umbrella Festival. She was commissioned to create a solo work for the Dance Umbrella Festival in Johannesburg for 2011.
She is the winner of a reality TV show So You Think You Can Dance season 2 South Africa in 2010 and was a choreographer for the season 3 show.
In 2014, she was named the first recipient of the Sophie Mgcina Best Emerging Voice Award supported by the Market Theatre at the Naledi Awards.
Choreographed Page 27 mentored by Luyanda Sidiya on Vuyani Dance Theatre which was staged at the market theatre and at the afro vibes festival in Amsterdam in 2015.
