Rhythm Blues

A return to the 50’s and 60’s – the second part of Rhythm Trilogy

Dark City meets Sophiatown meets Meadowlands meets Jozi meets Eldos and back in Rhythm Blues. In this work I collaborated with a team of musicians under the direction of Sipho Nkosiyane and also further collaborating with Kgafela oa Magogodi who wrote and delivered the poetry and had DJ Bionic on his mixing desk.

‘Choreographically Maqoma’s signature of mutating rhythms which electrify the body, his particular, is extended in its embrace of traditional and urban African dance melded with contemporary technique’.
